Eight-wave mixing process in a Rydberg-dressing atomic ensemble.
We investigate the eight-wave mixing (EWM) process involving highly excited Rydberg states with the assistance of coexisting electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) windows in a thermal 85Rb vapor both theoretically and experimentally. By use of a disturbance-free optical detection method, the Rydberg EWM characterized by multiple sets of spin coherence is presented via the in...
متن کاملFreely designable optical frequency conversion in Raman-resonant four-wave-mixing process
Nonlinear optical processes are governed by the relative-phase relationships among the relevant electromagnetic fields in these processes. In this Report, we describe the physics of arbitrary manipulation of Raman-resonant four-wave-mixing process by artificial control of relative phases. As a typical example, we show freely designable optical-frequency conversions to extreme spectral regions, ...
متن کاملFemtosecond stimulated Raman spectroscopy by six-wave mixing.
Femtosecond Stimulated Raman Spectroscopy (FSRS) is motivated by the knowledge of the molecular geometry changes that accompany sub-picosecond chemical reactions. The detection of vibrational resonances throughout the entire fingerprint region of the spectrum with sub-100-fs delay precision is fairly straightforward to accomplish with the FSRS technique. Despite its utility, FSRS must contend w...
متن کاملWavelength conversion in silicon using Raman induced four-wave mixing
Silicon integrated optics has emerged as an attractive technology for realizing passive devices because of the efficient silicon-on-insulator sSOId guiding structures and foundry compatible processing technology. However, silicon is generally perceived to be devoid of active optical properties that are needed to realize more sophisticated optical functions such as, amplification and wavelength ...
متن کاملBismuth erbium-doped fiber based multi-wavelength laser assisted by four-wave mixing process
We demonstrate for the first time a multi-wavelength laser based on a bismuth-based erbium-doped fiber (Bi-EDF) assisted by a four-wave mixing (FWM) process. Using a simple linear cavity resonator scheme containing a 49 cm long highly nonlinear Bi-EDF, we obtained about 8 lines of optical comb with a line spacing of approximately 0.52 nm at the maximum 1480 nm pump power of 160mW.
